What is Home Upgrade Grant Phase 2 (HUG2)?
The Home Upgrade Grant Phase 2 (HUG2) scheme is available to provide FREE energy-saving home improvements to people who struggle to pay their heating bills and keep their homes warm in the winter.
Funded by the government, the scheme is available to homeowners with off gas properties in participating local authority areas who meet certain eligibility criteria.
Eligibility for the grant depends on factors including household income or benefits, location, and the energy performance of homes.
What's the eligibility criteria for HUG?
- You have a low Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of D, E, F, or G
- You are a homeowner
- Or a private tenant
- Or the home you live in is not heated by mains gas which includes oil, coal, LPG, or only electric heating
- Or your combined household annual income is less than £36,000 gross
- Or you are receiving certain income-related benefits such as Universal Credit
- Or you live in a specific area
- Or finally a household member has been identified by an NHS Doctor or GP as vulnerable, due to having an ongoing health condition that may be impacted by living in a cold home. This includes conditions such as heart disease, respiratory problems, weakened immune systems, or limited mobility.
