What is a Money Order Judgement?
A Money Order Judgment is a court order that mandates the debtor to pay the outstanding debt to the creditor. Which can be used against an individual or a company, who owes you money.
This type of judgment is a powerful tool for creditors as it provides a legal framework for the enforcement of debt repayment.
The court will specify the amount owed, the terms of payment, and any additional costs or interest that may be applicable.
If the debtor doesn't pay the judgment, the creditor can enforce it by applying to the court for:
-
Third Party Debt Order: This order freezes money that might otherwise be paid to the defendant, and can be made against an organization or institution, such as a bank or building society.
-
Warrant of Control: This order can be issued in the County Court, and allows the creditor to apply to the court for an enforcement officer to enter the debtor's property, take control of their goods, and sell them to pay off the debt.
-
Writ of Control: This order can be issued in the High Court, and allows the creditor to apply to the court for an enforcement officer to enter the debtor's property, take control of their goods, and sell them to pay off the debt.
