What is Enforcement?
Enforecment is the legal term for when you have obtained a court judgement .
Once you have obtained judgment enforcement agents, bailiffs can be sent to a debtor's home or business to collect a debt if the debtor ignores letters or doesn't pay a judgment. This is called a warrant of control, to be executed by a county court bailiff or escalated to the high court.
Bailiffs can ask for payment within seven days, and if the debt isn't paid, they can seize belongings to sell to pay the debt. This includes items owned jointly with others, such as vehicles, jewellry, electrical items or other assets. However, bailiffs can only take items from inside a home or business if they're allowed in, and there are rules about what they can't take.
If bailiffs break the rules, the debtor can complain and get their belongings back.
